Turf Paradise is a thoroughbred and quarter horse racetrack in the North Mountain section of Phoenix, Arizona.
Turf Paradise race track was developed when horse owner Walter Cluer, purchased 1,400 acres of barren desert in 1954. His aim was to build a first-class race track in Phoenix. The track opened in 1956.
Turf Paradise Race Track Information
The Turf Paradise Derby is a $1 million stakes race held annually in February. The race is participated by top 3-year-old contenders eyeing a spot in the Kentucky Derby and the Triple Crown.
Turf Paradise has two race courses, the main track is a one mile, oval of seven furlongs. Racing is run from January to May; September to December, Friday through Tuesday
