Golden Gate Fields, located just west of Berkeley San Francisco, commenced its inaugural meet on February 1, 1941.
Golden Gate features live racing from November to March and June through August each year. The track is home to several major races, including the San Francisco Breeders Cup Mile and the Golden Gate Handicap.
